Indian Silk fabrics are world famous for their exquisite colors and bold patterns. Silk fabrics in India range from Raw silk or Dupion or Dupioni that is most widely known pure silk; the Banaras silk – made in north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh; Ikat or Pochampalli silk – made in Orissa and South Indian state of Tamil Nadu; Brocade – the machine woven silk with or without metallic jari work – made all over India and exported to most countries around the world. There are many other varieties of DesiSilks which are more popular in local people. Cotton Silk, Bamboo Silk, Banana Silk, Paper Silk are few varieties made using the natural fibers obtained from plants.
